Minka Gillian identifies her role as an artist as to ‘absorb, filter and reshape thought and emotion into solid form.’ Her conceptual craft-based practice utilises intricate weaving and basketry techniques to create polymorphic forms that entice tactility and a sense of wonder. Gillian has been a practicing artist for 20 years, working within the realms of sculpture, painting, drawing, installation, and public art. Her vibrant suspended sculptural installation ‘Mind Garden’ has been re-staged and re-imagined for 25 Moments.

Rew Hanks reinterprets history fusing old and new imagery to create detailed narratives that re-examine colonisation and conservation with satirical humour and wit. He explores these narratives through his 25 Moments showcased work ‘A Touch of Home’ and ‘A Captain and His Bunnies’. Hanks has held 26 solo exhibitions and over 175 group exhibitions in Australia and internationally. Nationally he has been awarded 26 print prizes including the Silkcut Open Award in 2013 and the City of Hobart Art Prize in 2014. Since 2006 he has been awarded 11 international Print Prizes in Germany, England, Japan, Thailand, Turkey, India, Bulgaria, and South Korea.

Luke Shadbolt’s sculptural and abstract images seek to convey the sublime in nature, from the everyday to the extreme. His 25 Moments work ‘North Avoca’, captures the power and beauty of the ocean and the fragility of humanity in that realm. The shimmering black and white photograph is concerned with the shifting properties of water, examining the interconnection of elemental forces and dualities found in the natural world. Shadbolt’s work has been exhibited extensively across Australia and Europe and has been purchased by collectors both nationally and internationally.

Yantra de Vilder brings attention to the interdisciplinary convergences that are exemplified through a meeting of sound and vision, a nexus of different musical genres and an intersection of a range of artistic disciplines, which include but are not limited to dance, poetry, calligraphy, music, and film. ‘Haiku and Haiku, Then and Now ‘creates a bridge between creative collaborators and gardens in Japan, Australia, and France. They were filmed and composed in the Edogawa Commemorative Garden in Gosford, the Albert Kahn Museum Garden and the Panthéon Bouddhique Japanese Garden in Paris, and in Edogawa, Japan. De Vilder’s significant career successes include winning awards at film festivals in New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, Toronto, and Berlin, as well as composing and consulting for international broadcasters such as the BBC.
