Maree Azzopardi’s work is included in both private and public collections in Australia, Italy, Malta, USA, Sweden, including Artbank Australia, St Vincent’s Public Hospital Sydney, the Collezione Farhad in Rome, Collezione De Cecco in Pescara (Italy), The French Embassy and MUZA in Valletta, Malta and Marisa Del Re Gallery in New York. She has exhibited alongside such prominent artists as, Marina Abramovic, Cindy Sherman, Annie Leibovitz (USA), Tracey Moffatt (Aus), Vanessa Beecroft (USA) and She was artist-in-residence at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney in 1995 and produced her award winning Chrysalis series then an image from Azzopardi’s Momento Mori Series from Missing...From the Garden appeared on the front cover of the prestigious American art journal, ARTnews (NY) (1998). In 2015 she was invited to be part of The Beyond Malta exhibition and three of her works now form part of the MUZA Collection in Malta. Azzopardi was also included in the exhibition for GHOGM Malta 2015, Departure, Memory, Nostalgia, Identity and Return at the House Of Representatives of Malta in Valletta. In 2018 she was a finalist in the Blake Prize, the Pro Hart Outback Prize and the JADA prize. In 2019 Exquisite Corpse was exhibited at St James Cavalier in Valletta Malta as part of the Spazu Kreativ programme then at Il Ponte Contemporeanea in Rome in 2020. Azzopardi is represented by Il Ponte Contemporeanea in Rome & Rex- Livingston Art & Objects in NSW. In 2021 Azzopardi was a finalist in The Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize, The Dobel Drawing Prize, the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize, The Gosford Art Prize, Naked & Nude Prize at Manning Regional Gallery and The Blacktown City Art Prize. In 2022 she is a finalist in the Ravenswood Australian Womens Art Prize for the second year running and is in the Dobell Touring exhibition. Azzopardi exhibited her solo exhibition The Fireworks at Gosford Regional Gallery in NSW opening late October 2022 and won the GOSFORD Art Prize in 2024.
