Threads of Community | The Threads That Connect Us

Join us for an inspiring showcase of the Threads of Community Textiles Project for Women, an initiative led by Lisa McArthur-Edwards, funded by Central Coast Council, and auspiced by Gosford Regional Community Services. Over 80 women from Woy Woy to Wyong participated, forming four groups that explored the modalities of basketry, weaving, stitch, mixed media, dyeing and various textile techniques.

Running from February to September 2024, this project aimed to promote mental health, skill-building, social connection, and inclusion through creativity, art, and culture. Each group selected specific pieces to create, culminating in a diverse array of 2D and 3D artworks.

This exhibition showcases the participants' learning journeys and final projects, highlighting their dedication, talent, and the invaluable support of facilitators Julie-Anne Rodgers, Jill Rumble, Ruza Santos, Glenice Ware and Karen Jane Williams. Celebrate the power of creativity in enhancing mental wellness and community connections through this unique and inspiring display.
