Tomoko Oka | The Crane and the Kookaburra

Japanese artist and Central Coast resident Tomoko Oka tells a story with this series of Sumi-e (Japanese ink art) paintings. The collection is an accessible, light-hearted exploration of the frustrations and joys of experiencing another culture - in this case, the Australian kookaburra experiencing Japanese culture, and a crane fascinated by Australia. We are invited to reflect on our own interaction with other cultures, and how meeting people from other nations can open our eyes to the interest and beauty we can find in what is foreign to us.

Opening event: 6pm 5 December 2024. RSVP at www.trybooking.com/CLCUF
